Who are Connexion Avenir?
Our project derives from a simple observation: the predominance of digital communication in our society accentuates social inequalities.
Our goal is to fill certain inequalities which exist between young people, depending on where they happen to be born, notably through giving access to digital technology as a way of creating a better future for them.
To promote equal opportunities in digital access, we wish to make IT tools (computers, Internet connection, but also training, internships, access to employment…) available to youth who are vulnerable due to their current economic and living situation and thereby give them dedicated educational support.
The goal is to interest and train them in a domain that could become their profession of tomorrow, thanks to our partnerships with digital organisations, companies and schools.
Our method
We aim to meet our goal though training youth in digital technology, thus opening concrete possibilities towards a professional life or higher education.
However, beyond that, we know that life in business or university, as in society in general, has codes and rules to respect. So, on top of the technical training given, we support the participants in developing and reinforcing these crucial life skills so that their integration into the world of work or higher education will be as effective as possible.
In order to carry out our actions, we have chosen to collaborate with 4 key partners:
- A supplier of second hand material.
We work with a company who regularly provides us with second hand computers. Businesses on a whole change their computers every 3 years. However, their older models could have a good utility for learning and accessing the internet. - Locally-established organisations to help us target vulnerable populations and then offer them support, training and coaching.
- The municipalities or educational establishments, who, by their knowledge of the communities concerned, can help us target appropriate candidates who can benefit from the programme.
- And finally, financial partners who provide us with the means to fund and expand our programmes, so as they can help as a greater number of vulnerable young people as possible.
A word from our founder
Throughout my busy but exciting professional life, I have never lost sight of my desire to give back to France what it has given me.
As a former scholarship holder, I owe a debt to my country.
Over the years, I’ve become convinced that the incredible energy of the suburbs is an opportunity for France. I’ve been able to measure this on many occasions, during a number of one-off social initiatives.
I see the creation of the Connexion Avenir association as an opportunity to channel the energy of young people into the digital world through training and jobs with partner companies.
I’m convinced that young people from so-called priority neighbourhoods hold great promise for the future. We’ll be fighting with all the players involved to prove it!
